Reichel Pugh IRC45Hakes Marine is proud to be building two of these new exciting designs. It is an uncompromised grand prix racer built from carbon prepreg and Nomex core throughout. We are very excited to be working with the Reichel Pugh office for the first time and building for two well known and well regarded yachtsman Michael Brennan and Karl Kwok.Michaels boat 'Sjambok' has been launched on Saturday the 11th November 2006. She had her first sail on Sunday, and then went for a 200mile delivery on the Tuesday to Tauranga in a howling Nor' wester. Needless to say the boat performed perfectly, to be packed up and on to a ship for Florida. She will make her debut regatta the 'Key West Race week', and we wish Michael and his crew a successful campaign. Karl Kwok's 'Beau Geste' too has enjoyed the Auckland harbour for her sea trials and will be racing her debut race with the Squadron Weekend regatta. This new breed of GrandPrix IRC racer will not go unnoticed over the next season or two as with her beautiful lines and very light displacement she will be a true speedster.
